This slogan is used for the NWMCC Wesley Foundation - but, it really fits this picture.

We recently had a great fundraiser - yard sale, old-fashioned country store, bake sale, and chili cook-off.
Below are the winners of the chili cook-off.
1st place and People's Choice winner - Laura Sappington.
     2nd place - Johnny Gordon.
     3rd place - Val Langston.
Also pictured is Peggy Sims who is presenting the awards to each winner.
Congratulations to these three and their wonderful chili recipes.

Christmas Parade 08

Our youth led off the parade with the banner that read "Harrisville United Methodist Church".

They were all very helpful in all aspects of the float building process.

The kids who are pictured below are Jazmine, Courtney, K'Anne, and Austin.

We hope that everyone has a very merry CHRISTmas!

There are too many people to list, (and I'm afraid that I may leave someone out)

but a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the float!

We had a grand time riding, waving to friends and family, throwing out lots of candy to kids of all ages,

singing, and listening to Mildred play the piano.

Christmas Parade 08 - Vol. 2

Here are more pictures of the Harrisville Christmas Parade, 2008.

Here's Danny Jones waiving to our photographer!

And here is our resident clown, Gary Rice.
We always knew he had another personality!

Our Harrisville Clinic float was beautiful.  It even won 2nd place!
Notice the "star" in the middle of the float - that's our own Dawn Smith!

Below is the Lee family - part of our extended church family.

The Simpson County Board of Supervisor's float had our Morris Gordon riding along.
He's one of the "Ol' Harrisville Fishermen" remembered on the float.

There's Peggy Sims and her grandson, Nathan Langston, riding on the Harrisville Economic Council float.

Here are some of our youth, Micah and Lindsey Windham, and Breanna Langston showing off their beautiful horses.

Ain't that a fancy ride that Sue Boggs is in.  It's Country Christmas cute!

Sages trip - Sept. 2009

On Friday, September 21st, the Sages group took a day trip to the Landrum Homestead in Laurel.  We packed a picnic lunch and ate in their pavilion.  There were so many wonderful things to see and experience.  It took most of us back to our youthful days.  We had a group of 15 that went on the trip and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  After touring the homestead, we went to the Turtle Creek mall in Hattiesburg for some window shopping then on to The Farmer's Market Restaurant in Hattiesburg for supper.  You know that this group can't go on a trip unless we go somewhere fun to eat!  We all got our fill of great seafood - some even ate alligator!
